Slow week

It's been a pretty slow week around here. It snowed a tiny bit here this week but not enough to slow things down too much. They did close school so Grammy and Uncle Johnny came over yesterday for a visit.  Tyler has decided every time Uncle Johnny holds him he's gonna scream. Poor John!  AND Grammy got to give Tyler a bath, which she has been looking forward to for probably 3.5 months now! Netflix is the new most exciting part of our day...yeah we're really that boring but lately Tyler has enjoyed his Jumperoo more and loves it when we sing to him.  His favorite songs right now are "Maniac", "Shake your Money Maker", and any song I make up words to.  He just smiles and laughs...So cute.

So here's a few pics from the last couple of days.  Brian and I have our first "date" tonight since having Tyler.  We're not much for dating, so he certainly hasn't slowed things down in terms of our lifestyle, but we are looking forward to getting out.  We're going to the Stars game, so it should be fun!

Happy Birthday Aunt Madge!

Today is my little sister Maggie's 22nd birthday (she's catching up to me fast, pretty soon SHE can be the older sister).  LOL!  She is a fabulous sister, daughter, aunt, and friend and is loved by many. Hopefully she knows it!  My sister is a senior at Texas A&M majoring in Sociology (like me!) and is hoping to get into a nursing program next year (also like me!). YAY!  She's coming to see her nephew - and the rest of us- this weekend.  We can't wait for Aunt Madgie to visit.

So what have we been up to. It's been a busy couple of days around here for us...as busy as it gets anyway.  Sunday I tried to finish up my laundry and get ready for the superbowl.  Of course things never go smoothly around here.  Around 9am the swing batteries died.  This is an absolute NO NO in our house...if you don't know, our kid lives in the swing.  He loves it and it's where he gets his best sleep. So when the crickets died, the screaming started.  B had locked the dogs out that morning for being nuts so they were outside and I was trying to vacuum and clean some. Tyler was happily playing in the jumperoo.  B heard him fart but that's nothing new or interesting...and I guess he wasn't too worried about it. Well I'm trying to make a Walmart list for him when Tyler starts crying. I pick him up and after a second of holding him realize that he has poop all down the front of his pants. GREAT. Poop running all down his leg, so i take his pants off, attempt to wipe him down and realize this isn't gonna work, a bath is gonna be necessary.  So then B decides to take off...i no longer have time to deal with making him a list. This is what happens when you're the one that does everything.  So he leaves, I bathe the kid and dress him.  So we're playing on the floor and I hear the dogs at the door. I look out and see they are both covered in mud.  It was a tiny bit warmer on Sunday but it was still FAR too cold to hose them down outside.  So B gets home and we decide they must be bathed inside.  This is not an issue with Jenny, who weighs 20 lbs, but Palin is a bit bigger at 65 lbs. Let us not forget she has sever doggy anxiety and ADD.  In the end we survived. So then we finished up what we were doing, and were joined for the super bowl by Grammy Rita, Jenna, Delaney and Hudson.  It was a pretty low key evening. We watched the game, played with the kiddos and then Just Danced after.

Yesterday we went over to Audra's to visit with her and Grace before Jenna has to go back to work next week. It was fun to get to hang with the babies and chat. Tyler couldn't keep from pooping all over his onesie of course, so that was the fun moment of the day...well that and Hudson wigging out on the way home.  We picked up Delaney and then the cousins had a fun time hanging out and playing.  Tyler is absolutely enamored with Delaney, he thinks she's the greatest! He just lights up when she talks to him and plays with him, she is a great big sister and cousin!

So today we don't have any big plans. Word on the street is that we're getting more snow tomorrow but we'll see about that.  We may be getting geared up for nothing.  We'll see I guess!

Down Time

Well we've just been busy busy busy little bees this week (or not...) so I couldn't think of anything I'd rather be do than spend another day inside doing nothing.  But that is what we did. We somehow managed to waste an entire Saturday.  I woke up to the smell of cinnamon rolls and made myself a cup of coffee. About the time I sat down to drink it, my little monkey woke up.  Fed him, watched some TV and hung out some.  He went down for some play time and I did some cleaning.  Spent a few hours vacuuming, folding laundry and cleaning out my TV stand that was in dire need of a dusting.  I still have a TON of laundry to do but it will get done before tomorrow night.  If not my mommy is coming over (just kidding mom, i'll do it!)  Then B and I played some Just Dance on Wii while the little guy watched from him jumperoo.  We took a break so I could feed him and next think I know B is screwing with something on the TV/Wii, so I took the dogs out, showered and fed Tyler AGAIN.  8pm rolls around and B decides he's done being a 12 year old and quits playing Zelda so we can have some cheese sticks for dinner.  Nutritious right?! Yeah, sometimes I think he never grew up.  So now we're watching Alaska State Troopers and the kid is sleeeeeeeping (hopefully for the night!)

So see, things are just as crazy and wild around here as they have been all week.  We're looking forward to the Super bowl tomorrow night and the possibility of some more winter weather this week.  Love it.

It's time to start strapping this one in.
he's just so darn cute in baby legs!

Oh and most exciting of all, Tyler rolled from his back to his tummy last night!! YIPPEE!!

Snow Day: Round 2

It's been almost a month since we got our last snow. We've had ice all week and the whole world has been shut down because Texas just isn't equipped to handle this kid of weather.  My friends in other places and from other places think this is hilarious. Hell, I think its hilarious. My family is from Chicago and my aunt posted pictures of their blizzard this week with FEET of snow drifts taller than me!  But in Texas, any frozen stuff is a recipe for chaos.

Yesterday they were predicting snow a dusting to 1" of snow.  Earlier this week it was supposed to be a high of 48 today. Well the dusting turned into 1-3" by last night and this morning we woke up to 6" of snow!  I had a feeling this might happen and when i finally went to bed at 1am I was elated to see the fluff falling gracefully from the sky.  Have I mentioned i LOVE snow...magic.

We are currently trying to transition Tyler into sleeping in his pack n play (from the bassinet part) so that eventually he might sleep in his crib. He isn't having this.  I gave up around 1ish last night and he slept in the swing.  We'll try again tonight I guess. Its just going to take getting used to, but he is too big to be in that little bassinet now. We've been putting it off because he's been sick but I have a feeling it could be a few rough nights around here.

Not much happening around here. B is working from home today and we may get together with Chris and Jenna for some Wii tonight.  I have a lot of laundry to try and get finished.  I'm doing alright but I need to finish! It is never ending around here.

Third Day, Thursday

Today is the THIRD day we've been locked in! I personally am not so bummed by this but reading other people's bitching on FB is getting kinda old.  LOL...actually I find it almost amusing.  Sometimes we don't leave the house for 3 days on a good week.  That being said, if the ice doesn't melt, my niece may not live to see the Superbowl! AND it's looking like it could snow tonight. I love snow!  No complaints from me, NOPE!

Tyler chose to sleep all day. He went to bed around 11, slept til 3:30, again until 6:30 and then 7somethign to 11:30.  around 1 he went BACK to sleep until 2:30...idk what i did but I hope it means maybe he's growing and this time he's sleeping instead of taking it out on me (as his food source).  He's happily laying on the floor playing with his floor gym. Today's method of attack - kicking the animals in the face. I love this kid.

I've paid a few bills, hung up some laundry and cleaned a little.  Trash goes out tomorrow so I should probably clean some more. I can't leave even if I wanted to b/c my side of the drive way looks like a penguin slide.  On the whole the rest of the neighborhood looks pretty good but I doubt my little Jetta will be going out until at least Saturday.

So that's it for today.  I've also spent a fair amount of time looking at photography blogs. Another one of my loves in life.  Is it just me or does everyone think they're a photographer these days?!  Me...I do it for myself and if anyone else wants me to try my hand at something, I'm willing, but I highly doubt it would ever pay any of my bills.  Still I love pictures and I love seeing what other people like in their photographs. I think that everyone has a distinct style and I have recently seen some really cool stuff. But for now I will keep practicing my skills on my kid.  He is the most adorable model!
 Such a handsome boy!

wintery wednesday

Well good ol' Phil didn't see his shadow today...so we'll see if we have 6" of snow on March 21st this year.  My guess is probably not.  High of 19*F today...that's definitely a point of interest here in north Texas.  Those of you getting hit by blizzards and having temps in the NEGATIVE may not be as appalled by that, but here, that's pretty stinkin' cold.  B was just telling me he and one other person were the only ones who didn't go to work yesterday but that's insane. He has an hour commute normally (so double or triple) ...why risk your life on ICE to go to work. That's just stupid. Unless you are a Dr or a police officer/firefighter/ambulance driver or nurse you should just stay home.  The less people on the roads, the less people creating problems.  This isn't snow guys, its ICE. STAY HOME!

So topping the news today were the rolling blackouts (we experienced one at 7am) and Jerry World getting to KEEP their power, using as much as 11 super walmarts combined, while families with sick children went without power all day.  Apparently it's a matter of national security...hmmm.  Oh and on that note, my daddy will be working at the superbowl this weekend. It might be one of the few things he's been really excited about with his job for quite sometime and I hope for him that it plays out better then the NBA All Star game he spent in a closet last year or whenever that was.

Schools are all closed again tomorrow; all of these people are griping about being bored. I say throw in an infant and this is my everyday.  Get over it people...enjoy your free time. I would absolutely move somewhere cold if I could.  And no I am not one of those looking forward to spring either because it only leads to summer which is just too damn hot for me.  The end.

What else?! Not much I guess...I hope to get caught up with my laundry tomorrow and I'm still trying to convince B to work from home again.  Wish me luck on both accounts!

ice, ice, baby

So that winter weather they predicted came in the form of solid ice.  It sleeted here for several hours and we just got a powdering of snow on top.  Its not very pretty or nice.  No getting out in this so I'm glad we ran to the store yesterday.  We're having a crockpot dinner my friend Megan suggested to me this weekend.  Super easy and took like 3 minutes. That's my kinda cooking!

B had to stay home today so we enjoyed some fun family time! haha I packed up Tyler's newborn and some 0-3 month clothes.  So sad that they wear these things for such a short time. Somewhere in there he ate and promptly projectile vomited all over B...that led to another bath.  Poor kid.  He just tries to eat like a fat man!  So now he's wearing his weenie dog jammies with little puppy feet. Quite possibly the cutest thing ever!! We sure love dachshunds in my family.  The weather isn't expected to get any better over the next few days so I'm sure we won't have much to talk about but there will be pictures, so get excited! I'll report tomorrow on how my delicious dinner turned out!
